Fiona Doig | Phoenix Support For Educators

Hi, I'm Fiona from Creating Calm.

I have worked with, children, young people and families in a range of settings from early years to residential to working with families in remote communities in the Northern Territory.

Before starting my own business I worked for Hippy Australia working to support parents/carers in becoming more confident in being their children/children in their cares first teachers.

Hippy is a wonderful program for children and parents and offers a 2 year contract for tutors who have children in the program, during this time you can study to have a qualification at the end of the 2 years.

As I already had Early Years, working with Young people and Social Care qualifications it gave me a chance to really search for where my passion was leading me, I completed my Diploma In Holistic Integrated Creative Arts Therapy, my Calm Coach certificate and Cosmic Kids Yoga teacher certificate.

At the beginning of 2023 I started my own business Creating Calm, I run workshops and 1 on 1 sessions and have been doing quite a lot of work in Kindergartens ‘Creating Calm in Kindy’ working with educators and children on incorporating therapeutic creative arts, creating calm tools (regulation and relaxation tools) and Children’s Yoga into the Kindy setting, I also run the ‘A B C of me’ for educators which explores Self Care, Self Worth and Self Love.

I first watched Sandi Phoenix present at the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Conference in 2022, I immediately loved the framework, and when I got back was telling everyone who would listen to do the quiz, I then listened to the podcast, read the book, did the 28 Day Wellbeing Challenge, had the honour of completing the Educator Toolkit for behaviour with Sandi presenting at training through Hippy, and had the honour of attending The Children’s Behaviour Masterclass with Sandi Phoenix and Dr Louise Porter.

I am now very proud to have become an affiliate and will share an introduction to the framework in some of my workshops and encourage others to further explore the framework through courses and resources and I am exited to continue to learn from such an inspirational team.
