Angela Round

Dominant Connection Cup, South East QLD based Facilitator

About

Angela brings more than 20 years of experience to the early childhood sector, having worked across a wide range of roles: centre based leadership and management, area management, independent consulting, and regulatory work across New South Wales and Queensland. This has given her a rare capacity to understand the sector from the inside out, holding both the detail of compliance and the big-picture vision of what quality early childhood education can truly look and feel like. Where her earlier career was shaped by a unique love of quality improvement and regulatory detail, she now finds herself most alive in the work of human connection, with educators and the children in their care.

Angela's commitment to quality improvement led her first to the Regulatory Authority in New South Wales, and later to Queensland following an interstate move. During this time she expanded her expertise into project officer roles and became a first-tier review panellist, developing a strong and nuanced understanding of compliance, investigative practice, and the assessment and rating process, and, equally importantly, the human realities behind them. Moving into area and development management, she began to define what would become a lasting passion for coaching and mentoring, bringing a strengths-based approach to her leadership and equipping teams with the skills and confidence needed to provide children with early childhood experiences grounded in quality, respect, and genuine happiness.

At Phoenix Support for Educators, Angela has found her heartwork. She works alongside educators to deepen their reflective practice and build the relational skills that genuinely shape children's experiences. She holds the belief that supporting an educator to see their own potential is supporting the children in their care to thrive.

Angela's professional philosophy is defined by this: children are not simply future people in the making. They are whole, extraordinary human beings right now, worthy of being seen, heard, and celebrated for exactly who they are in this moment. In a sector that is invested in children's learning, development and school readiness, Angela believes deeply in the being dimension of the Early Years Learning Framework's Belonging, Being and Becoming - that the early childhood years are not solely preparation for the future, but also about children being in the here and now. She is captivated by children's ideas, moved by their perspectives, and endlessly curious about the way they make sense of their world. Angela is an advocate for play-based learning extending well into the school years, holding a firm belief that the structural shift into formal schooling need not mean an abrupt departure from child-led, relationship-centred experiences.

Those who know Angela will quickly recognise that connection and safety are central to who she is. With dominant Connection and Safety Cups, she prioritises relationships in everything she does - bringing genuine warmth to every interaction and a natural attentiveness to whether the people around her feel included and valued. She creates spaces where people feel safe enough to be honest, to sit with the uncomfortable questions, and to grow.

Academically, Angela holds a Bachelor of Teaching in Early Childhood Education and a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment.
